A diet that may work wonders for your best friend may not have the same impact on you.
If you've ever tried out the latest diet fad only to find yourself gaining weight and feeling awful and wondered what you were doing wrong, scientists now have an explanation for you.
A new study from Israel suggests that people have very different blood sugar responses to the same food -- with some showing large spikes even after eating supposedly healthy choices.
The study shows that the glycemic index of some foods which is a measure of how that food impacts blood sugar level is not fixed, but rather varies widely depending on the individual (independent.co.uk).
The findings from the study is published in the Nov 19 issue of the journal Cell.
