Heartburn Medications May Increase Kidney Disease Risk

Common medications used in the treatment of acid reflux and heartburn could damage the kidneys. This is according to two studies which were presented at the American Society of Nephrology Kidney Week.
The medication in question are called Proton Pump Inhibitors. They relief symptoms of acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease and peptic or stomach ulcer by reducing the amount of acid produced by glands in the lining of the stomach.
