Woman's DUI Case Is Dismissed Because Her Body Brews Alcohol

A 35-year-old woman from New York who
faced a Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) charge in October 2014 had her case dismissed because it was gathered that her body naturally brews alcohol.

This medical condition which is very rare and known as the auto-brewery syndrome (ABS), was first described in 1912 as "germ carbohydrate fermentation."

People with this condition can survive at blood alcohol concentration levels (BAC) that would put a normal person into a
comatose. With BAC four times higher than the legal limit, people with auto-brewery syndrome simply feel tipsy.

With digestive systems that exist as tiny,
internal breweries, people with the auto brewery syndrome (ABS) can get drunk without consuming a single drop of alcohol.
