Does Morning After Pill Destroy Sperm Cells?

Morning after pills also called emergency contraceptive pills are medications that when taken within 72hrs after unprotected sex helps to prevent pregnancy.

From missing doses of your birth control pills, to broken condoms, to being forced to have sex, or just plain "forgetting" to practise safe sex, the emergency contraceptive pill always comes in handy to save the ladies' day.

But NO it doesn't prevent pregnancy by destroying sperm cells.

Emergency contraceptive pills work by:
  • Preventing or delaying ovulation (the release of an egg from your ovary). If no egg is released, no egg is fertilized and ultimately there is no pregnancy.
  • Preventing an already released egg from getting fertilized by slowing down both egg and sperm so they don't meet up. If the sperm doesn't meet the egg, the egg does not get fertilized, and there is no pregnancy.
