If you've ever seen a friend have good results from a diet but then you're not able to replicate those results yourself, its not because you are doing something wrong. Genetic differences may be the reason.

A study carried out on different strains of mice showed that the impact of diets is likely dependent on the genetic composition of the individual eating the diet, meaning that different individuals have different optimal diets.

The researchers are now working to identify the genes and biological mechanisms involved in the varying responses to diets.
